By leveraging the Apple Vision Pro’s gaming capabilities and mechanics, brands can offer experiential 3D e-commerce shopping beyond scrolling through static 2D pages.

The headset's spatial technology allows products to be virtually placed in a user's real environment at their actual size through AR. This ability enables users to engage with 3D products using natural movements of their eyes, hands, and voice. Brands can use this technology by creating applications on Apple's pioneering spatial operating system, visionOS. These 3D shopping applications, if created, present brands with a way to showcase their products and offer users a fresh, interactive method of exploring these items.

The Vision Pro has 600 applications designed specifically for it, with some including retail experiences from brands like Elf Cosmetics, J. Crew, Alo, and Decathlon. The sports brand Decathlon’s recently launched 3D shop allows customers to take part in an immersive shopping experience where they can visualize and interact with sporting goods in 3D and retrieve information about each product from the comfort of their homes.

Here are some potential applications of the Apple Vision Pro for retailers:

  • Virtual try-on for clothing and accessories: By using AR technology, customers can virtually try on photorealistic versions of outfits and accessories using the headset, seeing how they look in real-time without the need to change clothes physically. Shoppers can also mix and match different items to see how they look on a personalized mannequin.

  • AR visualization of furniture and home decor: The Apple Vision Pro can allow customers to place virtual furniture and decor items in their homes, seeing how they fit and complement their existing space. This virtual testing can lead to more confident purchasing decisions and reduce the likelihood of returns.

  • Product discovery: Though the technology is in its infancy, VisionOS’ developer toolkit contains VisionKit, which can identify products in photographs, opening opportunities for visual search use cases for brands.

  • Enhanced customer engagement: Using Apple Vision Pro in retail can create more engaging and interactive shopping experiences. Customers can explore products more immersively by rotating or zooming in on products, leading to increased interest and potentially higher sales.

Tourism and Travel

The Apple Vision Pro can superimpose individuals into different high-definition, dynamic virtual environments, offering the following benefits to users in travel and tourism:

  • Virtual exploration of new places: The Apple Vision Pro allows users to virtually explore new places, including U.S. national parks like Haleakalā, Joshua Tree, and Yosemite, as well as the moon's surface. Users can view these virtual landscapes independently or as backdrops while watching movies, offering a unique way to experience distant or inaccessible locations.

  • Partnerships for immersive travel content: Apple has partnered with Disney and National Geographic to provide immersive travel experiences. Users can explore a version of Disney World and view travel videos through National Geographic more engaging and immersively than traditional media.

  • Third-party app development for virtual travel: The potential for third-party companies to develop apps for the Vision Pro is significant. For instance, the app Sky Guide will be available, enabling users to travel through space, stargaze, and view natural phenomena like the Aurora Borealis. Trip.com Group has also introduced an app on the Vision Pro platform to allow users to explore unique destinations like Mount Everest, Maldives, and Antarctica through realistic panoramic imagery.

  • Reliving past travels: The Vision Pro allows users to view high-quality photos and videos on the iPhone, helping them "relive" past experiences. Panoramas expand and wrap around the user, creating the sensation of being in the photographed place again. The headset's 3-D camera lets users capture videos and audio for later playback, enhancing how travels are remembered and shared.

  • Advanced technology for a natural experience: The Vision Pro is controlled entirely by the user’s eyes, hands, and voice, without extra controls. Its high-resolution visuals and advanced audio system are designed to make users feel like sounds are coming from within their physical space, providing a more natural and immersive experience.

Enhanced Education and Learning Experiences

Apple Vision Pro’s cutting-edge technology is set to enhance the educational experience for both students and educators through virtual learning environments.
